The journey of the universe is cyclic. Everything begins with a pinpoint-an idea or concept- then spirals up and out. On this path, periodic upgrades occur to push things along so that stagnation doesn’t set in and other opportunities can be experienced. All this happens at the micro to the macro level and has always been. Some scientists ascribe to the Big Bang Theory of the universe’s birth. This isn’t totally off the mark, but the actuality is we have had a “big bang,” if you will, multiple times in the universal journey.
There are cycles within cycles that the universe goes through, but I wish to talk about a particular period that we are finishing up at this time. Every 12,000 years or so, our solar system goes through a magnetic event1. To be sure, the entire universe goes through this as well, but that area is vast, and we do not have modern equipment that has tracked that data as efficiently as we have in our own solar neighborhood.
The Previous cycle here on Earth was the Gothenburg event so named due to discovering five closely dated and correlated ice cores in Sweden showing the temporary magnetic field change on the planet 1,3. During this and each other magnetic excursion, there were extreme volcanic activity and extinction consequences. There was also an accompanying extended cold period during a solar minimum2. The dying out of various life forms made way for new designs to begin.
Not all species die out during these cyclical events. Horseshoe crabs have been around for 445 million years, while the coelacanth (a fish) has been on Earth for 410 million years. Alligators have lasted over 84 million years in one form or another, and Basilosaurus, ancestors to modern whales, lived 35 million years ago4. Darwin’s “Survival of the fittest” means those that live long enough to reproduce, but his other observation, what we call “Adaptive Radiation,” is the survival of those that can adapt5. The species that survive each magnetic event are the ones that adapt to the changing environment and live long enough to pass on those adaptive genes.
Climate change is not new. Each of these magnetic events has smaller cycles within them. For example, our sun goes through an 11-year cycle in which there are almost no sunspots and very little activity on the sun that affects Earth. Then the sun “wakes up,” where the sunspots produce ejecta in the form of solar flares, or the disc itself produces coronal mass ejections where portions of the sun spew out into space. Solar wind from the coronal “holes” sends out cosmic particles as the sun turns. Whenever these events happen, and they face Earth, we can have many effects ranging from minimal such as aurora like the Northern Lights, to maximum damage with a micro-nova. Changing weather patterns is part of this transformation.
With all these radioactive particles blitzing us and increasingly less magnetic shielding to keep us unaffected, our DNA and everything around us begins to change. It seems ironic that all the recent superhero movies have given us clues as to what is in store for humanity. Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and became Spiderman with all of the that arachnid\’s attributes. Bruce Banner was bombarded with gamma rays and became the Hulk. Steve Rogers was exposed to increasingly energetic rays so he could transform into super-soldier Captain America. We may not be a superhero in the Hollywood fashion, but we will upgrade and adapt. Those that can’t or won’t will die out.
This is a broad overview of cycles that affect Earth and its inhabitants. The changes these cycles make are over a long period, though relatively speaking, a few “quicker” events are implemented over just a few years. We are in one of those quicker time-frames where we have a leap in the trajectory of humankind. In the following two parts of this topic, we explore the collective and the individual in light of these cycles. We also learn how to navigate and adapt to pass on the wisdom the next few generations will need until we live fully in the next era.

I hope you all enjoy a replay of our memorial service at the Denton Family Reunion. All of nature joined in the celebration: the incessant crowing of a rooster, dogs large & small, small airplanes & big trucks along with a symphony of insects lent their voices to the morning’s activities. Established in 1872, these are the sounds our loved ones listen to each day in their final rest at Old Mother Church Cemetery. I hope Heaven has a noise filter!

Gathering music by Mary Margaret & David Flood- Two Strong Men written by David Flood
Friends and family- Thank you all for coming this day to honor two among our number who have passed from this life into the next. Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come into your presence today to honor David Morris Denton, Sr. and his son, David Jr. We are in mourning, Lord, for these souls that you have called home. Grant us thy peace and comfort as we adjust to their transition from this plane. Help us to celebrate and understand the life they had here and to find meaning in their passing. We praise you for allowing us time with them and give you all glory and honor. In Christ name, Amen.

Reader: Avery “Denise” Gordon Crossing the Bar by Alfred Lord Tennyson
Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark;
For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the bar.

Eulogy by Rev. Dr. Catherine Denton
Our world has profoundly changed since we last met at the Denton Family Reunion two years ago. Our country has seen many losses of life for numerous reasons. Our individual lives have gone through a massive shift. We are here today to acknowledge two of our Denton family leaders- David Morris and Dave Jr. They have made the ultimate transition.
These two souls were among those responsible for our initial gatherings here in Robbinsville, around 1999, at what we have called the Sweetwater Cousin Reunion. Because of their vision, we have become closer in spirit and not just in name. Each of us has had memorable experiences each year we come together and celebrate what it means to be a Denton- a family of immeasurable love and compassion.
David Morris Denton was born and graduated high school right here in Robbinsville, NC. He served four years in the United States Air Force as a Crew Chief on the Douglas A/B-26 and the North American F-51 Mustang. He was a well educated man receiving degrees from Cumberland College, Lenoir-Rhyne College, California State University and finally his doctorate at Western Maryland College. His awards and accolades are many ranging from distinguished ones from colleges, to humanitarian awards from Rotary Club, to a 4-H alumni award, plus many, many others. In his career with deaf education he was superintendent of the Maryland School for the Deaf as well as an international lecturer spreading his ideas and thoughts on deaf education where ever there were those receptive to his message. The world knew Dr. David Morris Denton as a great man of learning. We knew him as husband, father, grandfather, uncle and patriarch of the Sweetwater Denton Clan.
Uncle Morris opened a door to our past with his storytelling and reminisces. He gave us a glimpse of those gone before our time and a deeper look at what it means to be human. His hard-won insight into living on this earth has touched us in infinite and heartfelt ways. He was the youngest son of Gwynn and Bess Denton and though he did not see war, he was touched by its heavy hand. He had dreams of a life and career beyond Robbinsville but his heart remained tied to his old home. We are grateful he shared his love of its treasures, the bounty of its blessings, and his own sage-like wisdom.
David Denton, Jr. was born in Williamsburg, KY in 1957. He went to Frederick High School and then Western Maryland College where he earned a degree in communications. He and Shawn married in 1983 and produced three lovely children. They later divorced. David made his profession of faith at the First Baptist Church in Frederick then when he moving to Charlotte he attended the Moravian Church. David spent much of his life in Charlotte or Frederick at various jobs and businesses. Once a month he took time to visit and help with his dad while his mother took a break for respite trips to Yellowstone and Hawaii. His assistance was invaluable. David was a big Panther\’s fan and for many years he and his best friend, Clifton had season tickets. Several family members went with him over the years. His biggest thrill was going to the Seattle Seahawks game where his favorite quarterback handed him the touchdown ball. The handoff was captured on TV.
For each Denton Reunion, Cousin Dave gathered us all like a hen with its chicks. His coordinating skills made this event happen year after year. Each of us were called upon to add to the everyday details and the joy we find in each other\’s company. One of the first faces we would see was Dave\’s with his arms outstretched and a hearty welcome to all who came. Dave\’s skill and enjoyment at being MC at our Saturday evening Talent Show is etched in each mind, heart and funny-bone. He loved watching family members perform, giving out prizes provided by those attending that year. He gave us hope of a bright future and something to look forward to throughout the year. He made it possible to be family though miles apart. His most important accomplishment in cooperation with his former wife, Shawn was to give us Cailen, Hannah and Ethan. For this and more we are grateful.
As we acknowledge these two souls, let us not forget that they were human in every way. They had their flaws and struggles as each of us do. Their bodily frailties at their end were only a piece of what they suffered at times during the fullness of life. As it said in our opening verse in Ephesians- These men have put off their “old self.” They are experiencing “the new self” beyond this life. We each have our times of mental and emotional anguish and know what it feels like to wonder at our own worth and value. We may even have experienced regrets. These men were no different but now they labor no longer. We extend to them and ourselves compassion and grace. As a family, we offer them peace in their eternal rest.

Reader: Erin Connor Psalm 30:1-5
I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. 2- O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. 3- O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. 4- Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. 5- For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Our Beloved Aunt Peggy & Cousin Mary Margaret wanted toshare some words with the family:
Peggy wrote:
Dave, Jr. was my first born and only son. He was flawed, but he loved the Denton family enough to organize the family reunion and help keep it going. He loved his nuclear family and so enjoyed being a daddy. He read to his children using voices of the characters. He appreciated Bess’s paintings enough to find as many as possible and created a website for them. His sister, Mary Margaret was precious to him. He enjoyed having her visit and took her to his beloved Panther games. He cared for his father to give me respite as a caregiver. I’ll regret the last year of his life, but love him as long as I have breath.
My husband was a spiritual man who found his passion in serving deaf people. He approached the absence of using sign language as a human rights issue. He was invited to lecture in 40 states and 7 foreign countries to spread the philosophy of Total Communication. He was a devoted husband and father who was so proud of his Denton heritage and loved telling stories about it. Half of me is gone now, but his love and that of his family sustain me. Mary and David Flood are helping me hold it together with their love and care. My friends have been faithful and nurturing. I thank each of you who are here for your show of love and family solidarity.
Mary wrote:
My brother David was an avid Emcee. Ever since I can remember, he was finding ways to entertain people. He was quick witted and had a fabulous way with words. Even as a child he had a great vocabulary and he always excelled in school. He was always in the Honor Society and I was always grounded. David was able to dodge all the teenage bullets that I caught.
My brother cherished his family, nuclear and extended. He enjoyed creating skits that we and our cousins staged for our long-suffering parents. David also wrote, cast and filmed his own action pieces. Dad got a call from an employee of Maryland School for the Deaf who had just alerted police to report snipers on the roof of one of the campus buildings. Word got out that there was no real danger, it was just Dr. Denton’s son and friends shooting a film. They were on the roof throwing rifles off onto a mattress on the ground below. One such rifles suffered a broken scope which David promptly super-glued back together. The gun never had quite the same aim. I was frequently a cast member in his productions, but was usually just a dead person in the background.
Despite typical sibling bickering David generally loved me deeply and treated me like a princess. He looked out for my well-being but never judged or tried to unduly influence me. Although he did turn me into a die-hard Panthers fan! We enjoyed many a game together.
David survived some excruciatingly hard times with strength and grace. He was a caring and complex man…often bigger than life. When he walked in a room it was immediately filled with his electric presence. He was kind, interesting and interested. I always felt his compassion and infectious calm.
He was my only brother and I miss him beyond belief. But, his sweet and mellow presence will be felt all the rest of my days.
The cliche about being a “Daddy’s Girl” is too bland to describe my relationship with my father. We inspired each other and were always comfortable in each others company. We all know of Dad’s accomplishments in his career in Deaf Education…he was world renown. We recall his storytelling ability, his amazingly strong, yet easy presence, his musical prowess and love of history, family and nature.
But I, myself to knew a deeper, softer and spiritual David Denton. He shared his highest highs and lowest lows with me. He taught me subtly and not so subtly how to be courageous and humble at the same time. I remember when my brother and I got in trouble and Mom warned us that Dad would use his belt when he got home. Upon arriving David and I would tackle him and get him so tickled and laughing that he’d soon forget all about our punishment. What a pushover!
Other indelible memories were of watching Dad fearlessly and cheerfully jumping into the ocean to play in the “Ooh Aah’s”. And the many times he would send someone or personally come rescue me when I ran out of gas somewhere on the East Coast. My favorite memories of the many evenings we spent on the yellow, Naugahyde couch in the kitchen of the MSD campus singing along with Dad and his guitar while Mom would be cooking dinner and adding her beautiful third harmony to our mellow songs.
Daddy charmed every one he met. He met me on the day I was born and I could never get enough of his sweet soul. Even during his last days as his body and mind betrayed him he continued to grin, giggle, flirt and philosophized. He often alluded to the wonder of growing into yourself as a human being. He often told me, with a cherubic look on his face, “Mary Margaret just let it happen”.
I know that Daddy touched the lives of everyone here today. I am completely grateful that he touched mine as a father, mentor and friend. He will always be with me.

Nothing can stop humanity from evolving. Oh, it may seem a bit delayed for the moment, but inevitably man\’s progress forward happens. If you look at our present trajectory, we were right on schedule for an awakening. We were becoming more unified and humane compared with past eras. We were seeing the good in each other and not always the bad. Altruism was on the rise. Doing good deeds was becoming the norm. We were getting back to a purer source-code- our god-like selves.
Since this was happening, the powers-that-were- the were part is the kicker- were getting nervous. They knew that when humanity moved forward on the evolution path, their days were done. It was a matter of self-preservation for them. What will be the Final Battle had to be initiated. It is not known if they consciously knew that this battle for their survival would ultimately be their doom. For the very thing they thought to save themselves from would become the greatest catalyst the modern world would need to jump forward into their own power- the explosion in the piston making the engine fire and produce movement forward.
Humanities icons who spread 4th and 5th density ideas of unity, sovereignty, freedom, responsibility and love were manifesting the very dream they espoused. More people were “judging not by the color of their skin” than ever before. More of humanity were choosing minimalism and experiences over consumerism and debt. For a power-base that thrives on coercion, this was a dangerous future. In their way of being, there had to be the carrot or the stick reality of life in order for them to stay in power. But this type of living is not sustainable and therefore had to go for men to evolve into the next level of their adventure here on earth.
“Useful-idiots” were deployed to fight the fight of the elite. People who sought money, fame and cultural power were used to push an agenda that kept the status-quo. The folks would Tweet, write books and songs, produce movies, be interviewed or take a knee for the good of the elite empire in exchange for being rewarded as “good and faithful servants” in the eyes of their masters. It takes a village to spread propaganda and these people were more than willing to be used.
Humanity as a whole are survivors. Through the ages, natural disasters, solar kill-shots and our own self-destructive habits, we always managed to pop back up like dandelions in the lawn. We thrive on adversity and challenge. This is a long game and we are the victors at each level. Our ascendancy into higher states of conscious living will happen. I write this piece with a 3rd density state of mind but know these things have already happened in those 4th and 5th states of being. We cannot go back, as it were, to the former ways. It is not our destiny. The game must be played out and rest assured, we always win.

In June of 2015, I began receiving messages from an entity who claimed to be from the 6th and 7th plane of existence or density. I had never channeled a message from a being before and was a bit fearful at first. The entity said their name was Thiel (pronounced thee-ul). When I looked on the internet to see if there was something that went by this name I discovered the German billionaire and co-founder of PayPal, Peter Thiel. I also found a Nashville, Tennessee company called Thiel Audio. I had never heard this name before hearing it in my meditation that day. I thought it was pretty funny that there was a Thiel Audio company since my Thiel spoke to me and I lived in Tennessee.
For the next two and a half years, Thiel and I communicated. There were 29 messages in all. Each built on the previous and all were uplifting in spirit. After a time, Thiel began calling me Katana. I discovered that a Katana was the primary weapon of the Japanese Samurai. The Samurai way of life was called the Bushido. The most revered tenet was “freedom from fear.” They were to live every moment with no fear of death. Thus began my training to become fearless and know my power.
I share these channelings with you now, on this platform. The first few were mostly for my edification while I grew accustomed to the process. I will begin with our sixth conversation as it seems fitting for our current world situation. I hope you find these messages, posted a couple of times a month, useful or at least interesting.
Voice– Katana, go to your computer.
(I am comfortable meditating as I am [on the couch] and do not want to get up. I am reassured that the feeling will continue if I go to my computer now. So I comply [and type as dictated])
Voice– I am Thiel. You are loved. There is much happening in the world right now and the people will be frightened. You will be one that understands the situation and will know what to do for each who come to you. You have done the work!. They are another you, You will see inside and know what they are feeling. You will know how to calm them and help them recover their calmness.
Me– Where do I need to be? Where do I need to go?
Thiel– You will be and go where you are drawn. We will be with you. Do not be anxious for that. All will be well.
Me– Will the situation happen this week or later?
Thiel– The situation is ongoing and happening now, in the future and in the past. All is NOW so do not concern yourself with time or place.
Me– Do I need tools?
Thiel– You are the tool. You have prepared. You are ready.
(There is a long pause)
Me– Is there more you would say?
Thiel– You are loved. Convey that to the people you see and those that ask. They will find you. You need not seek. Be what they are seeking. Be yourself. We will talk again.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This saying in its basic form is part of many faith traditions around the world. It has been recited countless times in an effort to promote peace among people and among nations. My question to you is- How do we want to be treated? How do we desire to be done unto? You may be thinking- “I want to be treated well. I want to be loved. I want to be respected.” All worthy attributes to desire. My next question is- Do we treat ourselves well in a loving and respectful way? I speculate that for some of us, if we are truthful, our answer would be no.
Many of us are self-critical and disrespectful towards ourselves at times. We make a mistake, big or small, and beat ourselves up over it. We call ourselves names that we would never think of calling someone we care about. We do not forgive ourselves when we falter in our endeavors. We remind ourselves of each sin we commit, sometimes for years on end. We find fault with our bodies and deny it the love it yearns for. When we do succeed at something, we deny those who want to lift us up. We say it was “luck” or seek to distract the person giving the compliment. We do not appreciate those who encourage us and pat us on the back for our efforts.
The world is a mirror that reflects back to us what we truly believe. The mirror is only as clear and free from distortion as we are. If we believe we are victims, then all the world is a perpetrator seeking to take something from us. If we believe we are poor, then the world drains us of our life and our living. If we believe we are unlovable, that same world sends those to dismiss or to revile us. We are shown through others and through circumstance that we are correct in our assumptions. We receive more of what we expect our life to be.
An amazing thing happens when we clear up the lens from which we look. When we are grateful for the good (any good) life gives us, then we are given more good things to appreciate. When we believe we are powerful, the world gives us things that we easily conquer. When we use the gifts that we have in a loving way, we are given positive feedback that infuses our spirit with purpose. The world does not judge what we put forth, nor does it judge what we receive. It is our responsibility to decide what we desire the mirror to reflect.
To clear the lens of distortion and thereby clean up how the world reflects our beliefs, we must heal our hurts. In healing what has caused us pain from our past we change our present and future. The times we were a victim or felt poor can become a chance for us to find the value of the incident and move forward to receive a greater blessing. To choose to look at what has caused us to suffer may not be pleasant for a short time but ignoring it will surely cause untold hardship for years to come.
In order for us to receive from the world kindness, respect and love we must be congruent with that desire. Awareness of what we truly believe can free us. Our attitude toward ourselves must match what we want from others. When we do this, the lens has fewer distortions and the Golden Rule can truly work for us. We unconsciously teach others how to treat us. For us to have what we desire from this life, we must do unto OURSELVES as we want others to do unto us. We can then show the world in a conscious way how the Golden Rule is a win-win for all.

In Part One of Integrating Societal Duality, I introduced you to the Service-to-Others (STO) orientation of a portion of humanity. In Part Two, we will explore the Service-to-Self section of the population. Keep in mind that folks you know, yourself included, have components of each of these two ways of being. To know which camp you are genuinely a part of is in your intent and the percentage of time you live in each state. Again, I need to assert that neither camp is better or worse than the other. Both sides of this human coin are necessary for humanity to evolve from our present developmental condition.
The Service-to-Self (STS) path is one in which you spend most of your time (51%+) in a being that puts your needs, wants, and desires ahead of anyone else. Your activities reflect the attitude of “If I do this, what do I gain from it?” Your thinking revolves around how you will be affected by events and circumstances. Your goals are set and implemented without thought as to how you’re attaining them affects others. Any charitable work you do has the underlying aspect of benefiting you in some manner. Simply put, your intention with all you do, think, or say is furthering your agenda. If others gain from your plans, they are a secondary concern, which can make it easier for you to advance more work that ultimately improves your situation without the possible interference of those other beings.
No one is entirely STS in their core being. There is a spectrum of involvement and perhaps even times in our lives that we are more in line with servicing ourselves than at other moments of our existence. When we are young, it is easy to become self-absorbed. When we choose radical self-care such as going to a spiritual retreat or entering an addiction program, we are servicing ourselves for that period, even if we believe we are doing it all for the others in our life. All of us are a mixture of various attitudes and intentions in how we choose to live.
There is a small group among us that are fully invested (95%+) in the STS path. They understand, for the most part, that the human experience is a long game. They serve a higher cause and plan their agenda accordingly. The bit of themselves that exhibit Service-to-Others characteristics are usually reserved for family. They instruct these members in STS ways so that they can further the long-range plans of the whole. Since their planning involves generations of family and close contacts, these folks are usually relatively well-off. The ultimate goal is to gain. At first, it is the acquisition of material goods, then they progress to gaining knowledge, which can include self-mastery. When all that is accomplished, the supreme reason for living will be power. With power, you can achieve that much more without all the work. The menial tasks will be done by others lower in status that desire to have what you have and do whatever it takes to get it.
Those people who follow the STS path but are lower in status represent a fair amount of folks. They have a better mixture of STS to STO but still strive and intend most of their activities to benefit themselves. There is nothing wrong with seeking a better circumstance with financial security. The difficulty is what is required of you to obtain that life when your motivation is self-focused. Your sense of morality and internal compass can be easily compromised. The higher up the ladder you climb, the more of the STO portion of your being has to fall away. You become immune to the plight of those in your sphere except as an obstacle to getting around. You begin to use people to further your plans without seeing them as individuals. Some of what is expected of you may be illegal, unethical, and even immoral. Those who still exhibit compassion and empathy need not apply.
After reading this far, you may be wondering why this type of person is allowed to live the way they do. The answer I find is three-fold:
We live in a dualistic universe with Free-Will and therefore we need two sides of everything to have a choice.
Generations of planning have given them the power to perpetuate themselves and those who wish to be like them to continue as they are.
The existence of the two paths, Service-to-Others and Service-to-Self, offers us all a unique opportunity for soul growth.
Each camp pushes and prods the other so that we all evolve. When the STS people succeed in tamping down the STO folks’ desires, the STS individuals grow in strength with lower status people moving up the ladder. When the STO folks realize they have more power than they were led to believe and push forward in accomplishments, they get closer to integrating and accepting that having power and self-determination is not bad.
At this point, a spoiler-alert may be in order. We live at present in a 3D world which is materialistic in nature. We are moving as a collective into a 4/5D earth. This is due to the progress we have made in our individual and collective souls’ growth. The higher we evolve in our consciousness, the more of the Service-to-Self path will fall away. The energy it takes to suppress, restrict, and control other beings is not sustainable in these higher realms. There will be other opportunities to grow and gain wisdom in the higher states of consciousness that some are now beginning to see and experience.
In our 3D world, we are given a choice in how we want to live our lives. Some proclivities we are born with while other traits are learned in this life. How we grow is not as important as that we do. Moving our collective consciousness en masse is what we are made for, and everyone has their job. It takes each person doing/being what their soul mission requires to integrate societal duality. We have been moving in this direction for quite some time now and are on schedule to accomplish this goal. Moving nearly eight billion 3D individuals to a higher state of consciousness is not easy, nor is it pretty. In fact, at times, like right now, it can be very chaotic. We are on the cusp of the next level in humanity’s mission. No one gets left behind, for we all play the roles we agreed to do to further the whole. Humanity’s long game is to evolve. We are doing that step-by-step, day-by-day. Congratulate yourself on a job well-done because giving up is not an option.

I have laid out my beliefs and thoughts of life’s reality in parts one, two, three, & four of The Red Pill Journey on this blog. Now I give you my perspective on what we do with that reality to mitigate all the other times we have tried to “win the game” of Duality Integration.
There are spiritual traditions that say we have gone through this several times in the past. The cosmological view gives the worlds of Lemuria, Atlantis One, and Atlantis Two as previous attempts. The Hopi give three worlds that have gone before. The first was destroyed by fire, the second by ice, and the third by water. The fourth world is due to end soon- perhaps now. The Mayans believed that all of life followed cycles. According to their calculations left to us on ancient tablets, the recent cycle that includes the equinoxes\’ precession has ended. We are transitioning into a new cycle of time.
Looking at our outside world at this moment, it does indeed feel like something is ending. Structures that we have built and relied upon for as long as anyone alive can remember are crumbling. We no longer feel safe, nor can we place our trust in institutions as we once did. Society is divided mostly into two camps, but even these two sides are somewhat fragmented within themselves. It is difficult to see how we can make it through this trying time.
One camp is Service-to-Self (STS) oriented. Generally, this portion of society thinks, acts, and believes in themselves first and foremost. Every action is first considered as “How does this benefit me?” The other camp is Service-to-Others (STO) oriented. Generally, this portion of humanity thinks, acts, and believes in others’ goodness and wants to help those in less fortunate circumstances. The difficulty comes in distinguishing between the two, as many folks are a mix of the two camps. Eventually, one of these sides will be chosen as more inline with their soul-mission goals. We will look at each of these orientations, with our first foray being the Service-to-Others side. It has two main components that we will explore.
Some sage advice from some well-meaning soul once said: If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten. The divide between the two Service-to-Others sides is widening further and further each day. For simplicity’s sake, let’s explore the two factions and see what they offer. We will set aside the detailed fragmentation and deal with broad views. I state right now that I do not believe that one faction is better or worse than the other. My hope is that you understand why when we finish this cursory analysis. We will call these factions Team Jupiter and Team Saturn.
In astrology, the planet Jupiter is called the Great Benefic. It is the planet of luck, fortune, and generosity. Jupiter is known for making things it touches bigger, grander, and more than it usually is. Higher education, travel, humor, philosophy, and faith are all governed by this gas giant. Being the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter has a massive gravitational pull.
When Team Jupiter is balanced, it can enhance a society to become generous, just, and fair, embracing various cultures and lifestyles. It has a nurturing attitude and faith that draws people into its circle. Humane, reasonable, and a respect for authority are this team’s hallmarks. Team Jupiter has excellent organizational skills. With its philosophical bent, this group can imagine a just world in which people and things are in a better circumstance than they were. Team Jupiter is the fun crowd and has an air of conviviality.
If Team Jupiter is not in balance, we find less desirable traits at play. Vanity, partiality, and wastefulness can be exhibited. Jupiter can be excessive. It is possible to have too much of a good thing. A tendency towards over-indulgence, over-promising, and destructive hedonism can be detrimental to Team Jupiter’s cause. In trying to be generous and inclusive for everyone and everything, this team can over-look the reasons to be discerning. In the extreme state, Team Jupiter can have an over-reliance in believing all outside authorities, thereby imposing excessive rules alienating those they try to influence.
Saturn in astrology is considered the Greater Malefic. Structure, hard work, and discipline are its hallmarks. The ringed planet is not straightforward, nor is it happy-go-lucky. It is known to place restrictions and limitations on all it touches. Saturn is the Father of Time. The delays in your life can be laid on Saturn’s shoulders. It is also responsible for productivity, careers, and tradition. While Jupiter has respect for authority, Saturn is the authority. No one gets around Saturn. Saturn perfects, and the rewards are worth waiting for.
When Team Saturn is balanced, much can be accomplished on time and within budget. The i’s are dotted, and the t’s are crossed in their detailed plans. Team Saturn knows how to practice until it is as perfect as it can be. These people are fond of hard work and can take a successful fundraising event that becomes part of a community tradition. Obligation and responsibility are part of the make-up of this team. When a project needs attention, Team Saturn is the authority you can rely on. Helping others to help themselves is the way of Team Saturn.
Team Saturn can become unbalanced. Its need for perfection can make the work and practice boring, taking a long time to accomplish. This group can get bogged down and refuse to alter traditions when they are out-dated. Team Saturn can be so focused on the budget that the reason for the project is forgotten. In being super-responsible, they can have a difficult time allowing others to help. In the search for efficiency, this team can sometimes be harsh in allowing others to be different. In extremes, Team Saturn becomes controlling and dogmatic, refusing to allow for an individual empathetic response.
As with the two significant delineations of folks on planet earth- STS and STO-, the two components of the Service-to-Others path can be a mixture. Very few are pure Jupiter or Saturn. This is fortunate for us all, for that makes it easier to find common ground. Getting these two teams to work together is the goal. When this happens, nothing can stop the good they can do in fulfilling their mission as STO on this planet. Those with more Jupiter leanings can bring big dreams that help the most people. Saturn mindset folks ground that energy by asking the hard questions of time, resources, and sustainability. We need both types of people to do the greatest good for a significant portion of folks while being good stewards with the resources available.
In Part Two, we will look at the Service-to-Self path and what motivates the other major group on this planet. Knowing the people’s energy that makes up the individuals of our world can help you see the inner workings of events and activities that are going on, especially now in this uncertain time. Realizing the motivation of folks helps you see ways to unite instead of divide. In many martial arts practices, you are taught to use your opponent’s energy and momentum to avoid being hurt, thereby allowing them to defeat themselves. When we are aware of what unites us, we can use that energy and momentum to further a positive agenda. We can permit ourselves to indeed be Service-to-Others.

Humans are made to create. It is in our blood, our psyche, our very soul. Our imagination is infinite. It can not be contained; it always finds a way to express itself. Humanity would not thrive without this ability. Each one of us has a spark inside that is unique, memorable and oh so needed for this time. You were built to add to the world your individual creations so that we may all move forward in consciousness.
As humans, we create tools, relationships, agreements, art, shelter, food, ideas, communication, language, life, and so much more. Our capacity for innovation knows no bounds. We draw on the collective consciousness of thousands of years of humanity, perhaps more. We are always creating something.
We are creator beings with individual perspectives, tastes, and opinions. Humanity learns through contrast and comparison. We need something to dislike so that we may know what we do like. We need down compared to up, good in contrast to bad, fear in contrast to safe. This is why food buffets are so popular! Our world is a landscape of variety to compare and distinguish one aspect of something from another.
There are those in humanity who desire control and steer the rest in the direction of their choosing. The would-be controllers attempt to limit those who freely create. They restrain or get others to do it for them. They endeavor to silence, squelch, and censor the contrast to the direction they put forth. Sanitizing, suppressing, or deleting creations from the past may be attempted. They do not realize that history always repeats itself. The present can not be held back. Nature is ever in motion.
To limit or censor another is to put the same constraints on the self. If I say you can not do thus, I am limiting my options as well. Without your input of variation, I can not know what the opposite of that is. This, therefore, limits my choices. If a book or movie is edited or deleted altogether, someone is bound to make another so that the balance of contrast continues forth. Ideas and concepts get recycled and reused. We need them in our lives so that we can draw from their wisdom- the good and the bad. That which serves us helps us feel accomplished while that which serves no one is used as a catalyst to move us forward and look for more of that which provides for the greater good.
Recent attempts at censoring individual voices, especially those that express conservative or alternative to the mainstream-media views, are causing a widening rift in humanity. It may come as a surprise to some, but not all people live in the same reality. There is a consensus in some aspects while not in others, like a VEN diagram with overlapping circles. We may agree we live in the same country, but our lives reflect our attitudes and expectations. For all of us to have the same experiences is to limit our choices. It suppresses our natural creativity. Eventually, it is expressed but in a destructive way that hurts rather than to heal.
In past years, my husband and I would occasionally have dinner out with my parents. Health issues caused them to lose some of their natural optimism and joy while Jon and I were in good health and doing well in our lives. We were all in the same restaurant at the same table with the same server. Our experiences were very different, no matter when we went out or where we ate our meal. Somehow my parents’ meals had something not quite right, or their check would be added wrong. Our meals were usually correct, with no problems. I watched this phenomenon happen over and over.
I observed how my parents acted in public, what they talked about. In contrast to their example, I decided to act and speak differently. As a consequence, my reality became different from the one they experienced. Without this illustration, I would not have known anything else to do. I did not suppress my creative nature and did not limit myself to their experience. Through contrast, I found a way that worked for me, and it gave me an outcome more in-line with how I wanted my life to be.
Observe the difference in visual art between Michelangelo versus Jackson Pollock. How can we dismiss either artist? We may each have our preferences, but to deny another of their choice is limiting us as well. As we create outwardly, our inner landscape changes and recreates itself in tandem. Our tastes in art and other life experiences morph and grow as we walk through our lives. My daughter only ate chicken nuggets as a child. Now, as a 27-year old, she tries new foods all the time. Her limited diet grew as she did in age and maturity.
How are you welcoming contrast & diversity of thought into your life experience? Are you squelching your creativity or the creative expressions of others? Are you casting an unfavorable judgment on someone else’s choices? In the game of Duality Integration- which we are all playing- we need the various shades of opinions and options to make the tapestry of our collective lives rich, full, and meaningful. Invite creative variety. You will be better served for it.

I mentioned in Part One of this series that we live in a universe of Duality. I believe this is a card we were collectively dealt with. We may not always experience complete awareness of the dualistic nature of our world. Still, it can be seen from a higher perspective. All of life is a product of symmetry and balance. As above, so below. There is no You without Me. The unifying concept of Duality is you can’t have one of these aspects without the other. In that sense, everything becomes one thing connecting with the All.
We experience life through our senses- see, hear, taste, touch, smell- plus some people are aware of their extrasensory abilities. Each of these abilities is in the form of a wave or frequency that vibrates very quickly with only two states of choice- on and off. How fast the vibration determines the sense that is used. Humans can typically see in the range of 405-790 THz. Audible sounds for the same human range from 20 Hz- 20,000Hz. The other senses use other frequencies to understand our world. Humans made computers with this same working in mind with 1’s and 0’s- the on and off frequency wave of the digital world.
With each of these senses, we become aware of the dualistic nature of that which surrounds us. We see lightness and darkness, feel hardness and softness, smell pleasantness and stinkiness, hear sharp and bass sounds, and taste spicy and bland. We can not know one of these aspects without the other to compare or contrast it to. Humans also can decide we prefer one part over the other even if we have never experienced the other. To accomplish this feat, we rely on those who have experienced it to give their opinion. Depending on what we believe about that opinion holder, we decide for or against the thing in question. We can choose to ignore what we do not want, but that does not make it go away, nor make it less valuable.
When we rely on others to experience the world for us, we, in turn, experience a distortion due to using another person to filter the world through. We are taking the Oreo cookie apart to only eat the middle, never knowing how good those chocolate wafers are when they are dunked in cold milk. We may view the other side of something as a waste but the saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” exists for a good reason. Allowing ourselves to seek balance will enable us to remove some of our distorting filters.
Our language gives evidence of our unconscious knowledge of Duality: No gain without pain, no rainbow without the rain, and even in physics, Newton’s Third Law of Motion- for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. We don’t always recognize the “water” we are swimming in. But when we become conscious of this duality-the water that surrounds us- we then can see a choice. Exercising choice in a dualistic universe gives us power. We are no longer hindered by the on/off switch of any current reality. The take-it or leave-it attitude that prevails in an unconscious society can be bent a bit to serve you. You can see a third, fourth, and even fifth choice, such as changing our personal attitudes, choosing both options, and even asking for help to instigate a compromise.
When you see choices within the dualistic nature of life, you go from playing checkers – going this way or that- to evolve into playing chess using strategy and awareness of options. Going along with the on/off of life is much more comfortable in the short-term. I believe being aware and consciously choosing brings greater rewards for long-term outcomes. The symmetry that occurs gives equal weight to all choices. We have but to decide on our individual preference for the goal and go from there.

In continuing the series of disclosing my beliefs, we come to the subject of illness and disease. Much has been written in metaphysical circles on this and other details of the human condition. I remind the reader that the cycle of humanity is a long game, encompassing many lifetimes on this earth. Afflictions in one lifetime can spill over into the next. This aspect of generational disorders can plague us if you pardon the pun until the root cause is transmuted and integrated into the family line.
Many folks have enumerated the emotional reasons for various ailments. Louis Hay\’s book You Can Heal Your Life is one I have consulted, among others. For the most part, illness comes to the physical body through the mechanism of emotional distress. Anger, Fear, Grief, Guilt, and Shame constitute the bulk of the culprits. These emotions, in varying intensities and duration, become lodged in certain portions of our anatomy. Until they are acknowledged, allowed to be felt, and then released, we stay a slave to the effects they wreak on our bodies and minds.
We have several filters from which we view existence. Our overall concept of life- what it is/how it began/why we are here- is the Spiritual picture of our eternal soul. Our beliefs regarding our human experience are considered on our Mental plane. Next in line, we use our Emotional spectacles to decide which feelings will be activated for any situation. Finally, our Physical body goes into action both internally and externally.
If any of the lenses are distorted, that filters down to the subsequent areas. If my Spiritual concept of life is: There is no God or Higher Source, then the next level reflects this distortion. My Mental belief may be: I am alone and can count of no one but myself for help. The next level may trigger Emotions of anxiety & fear when I am overwhelmed and can find no one I can trust. If these emotions are felt with adequate intensity, and for a while, the outcome may be Physical issues with something simple like motion sickness. With extended events of fear & anxiety, I could have problems with my heart.
On a personal level, it can be challenging (but not impossible!) to discover the root cause of any illness. It could stem from our individual thoughts and beliefs, or it could have a generational aspect that can be hard to pin down. On the collective level, we can also have illnesses and maladies that seem to attack from nowhere. Plagues and pandemics being two mechanisms that humanity has had to deal with. The same lenses can become distorted, and disharmony can flourish. I believe that along with burning off Karmic contracts- deciding as a group before birth to endure specific trials while in human form- there can also be an upside to these diseased events.
The Smallpox epidemic, while devastating indigenous populations in The New World, ushered in a new treatment in the form of a vaccine. Cholera in the mid-19th century paved the way for improved sanitation. The Chinese Bubonic Plague gave scientists of the day research material. They discovered the bacteria that cause it and other historical plagues. Another consequence of mass illness is the reshaping of empires, populations, and governments prior to a leap in human consciousness. I spoke about this concept in The Gift of the Coronaon this blog. When humanity is put under pressure for some time, it incubates us and allows a metamorphosis to occur. We get an upgrade individually and collectively. Our understanding of ourselves and how we shape our reality is broadened. It is a collective Ah-ha! moment.
Our current Pandemic is another opportunity to upgrade my inner world. Using my circumstances instead of letting it use me can be a worthy endeavor. I am asking myself- Where in my life have I procrastinated in a self-improvement goal? Who have I neglected in expressing my appreciation for family and others? How can I regain my passion in creative ways? What do I really believe about life?
I encourage us all to use this time of extreme limitation to ponder our life and its recent trajectory. If we have had an illness, what emotion are we harboring deep within? Are we willing to acknowledge our feelings and feel them in a healthy way that does not intentionally harm others? What do we need to let go of, or who do we need to forgive? I am working on these issues and hope you all are as well.
