I was a psychiatric care consumer for 16 years. For more than a dozen years, I was actively on multiple prescription psychiatric medications. I was deep in the system, for sure. My family\’s health history could have kept a small hospital running for decades- alcoholism, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, along with mental health issues. About halfway through my affair with being non compos mentis, I woke up from my drugged slumber. I spent the last eight years of that time trying to extricate myself from it.
I had been asleep to so many things. Obviously, my own emotional baggage accounted for much of my lethargy. I was in denial of how my behaviors contributed to my illness. I trusted my parents, who had navigated the medical system, and they trusted their doctors. It didn\’t matter that they slowly deteriorated partially from the medical care they consented to and the rest from their own obliviousness to their personal contribution in that area. I followed their example even when it didn\’t feel appropriate for my circumstance. The world around me droned on without my attention nor conscious input. All that was about to change.
The first snooze alarm happened with the insurance industry. Mental health was paid on a different tier than a physical malady. I advocated for this to change by writing congresspersons, insurance companies, and governors. At last, my pleas, and those of the advocacy group I belonged to, were heard. The problem with our victory was TARP, the Troubled Assets Relief Program authorized in October 2008. We had to piggyback on bailing out banks, auto-makers, and insurance groups to get what we considered a humanitarian cause passed through congress. This left a sour taste in my mouth.
The second time I hit the snooze button, I was experimenting with more natural means of care. My insurance did not cover sound therapy, energy work, and alleviating vitamin deficiencies, so I had to pay out of pocket. The Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010. It was a step toward universal healthcare, which included only allopathic measures- prescription drugs and the diagnostic means to determine which one to use. Western medicine treats symptoms, not root causes. Many of my friends at that time were advocating for universal healthcare. I was finding relief outside that system and could not in good conscience join them in that fight.
Most of the medications I took were causing me unbearable side effects. A few were life-threatening. In my quest to get off of all of them, I found resistance from my psychiatrist. He was a caring person, and I thought I had an ally in my care for a time. When I began researching each of these drugs, I discovered I did not give informed consent. The mild complaints listed under each medication were the only ones presented to me when they were prescribed. My system produced all the obscure effects that one could have, leaving me damaged and wondering why. This was when I became fully awake to the world.
Tracing the pharmaceutical companies to congressional lobbyists gave me a partial answer to the questions I asked. Several congressional members had deep connections to these entities- family and/or investments. This discovery led me to how our money is made and the Federal Reserve. The Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin filled in a lot of the blanks. From there, it was a hop and a skip to learn of the United States becoming a corporation (away from being a Constitutional Republic) after the Civil War. Though Lincoln and company emancipated the African slaves of America, we were well on our way to everyone becoming slaves to the corporate system. The Birth Certificate, standardized in the 1930s, became the instrument that made us subject to the corporation and not a sovereign flesh & blood being in the eyes of the law. A cursory trip through Black\’s Law Dictionary will give you a taste of how words have a different meaning if you are on the other side of the real world.
I was, since late 2007, awake to a reality that many have known but have been shunned, derided, censored, hospitalized, or jailed if they dare speak of it. Now, in 2021, thousands of other people are trying in vain to hit the snooze button, but the feeling of \”something ain\’t right\” keeps them from going fully back to sleep. For those of us who have been on this quest for some years, it is incumbent upon us to be kind and remember how it was for us to throw off our blankets and wipe the sleep from our eyes. We have had years to adjust and refine what is true and what is not. Those newly revived will need our calmness and patience as they find their equilibrium amongst the cognitive dissonance in their minds.
We are indeed in this together and cannot afford to leave a fellow traveler behind. There will still be some who can’t make that leap and will defend the trappings of our former western society to their death. Experts and authority figures will be revered, and the status quo, which is rapidly disappearing, will be held in a stranglehold by those who desperately need \”normal\” to return. It is said that prisoners come to love their cage where they are cared for (however abominably), housed, and safe with the devil they know. Allow them their illusions for however long they last. We have better things to do. Our country needs us and our expertise. Creating a world we all want to live and thrive in will be a daunting task, but we were built for this time. How will you contribute to such a world as we have not yet seen?

You are comprised of: 84 minerals, 23 Elements, and 8 gallons of water spread across 38 trillion cells. You have been built up from nothing by the spare parts of the Earth you have consumed, according to a set of instructions hidden in a double helix and small enough to be carried by a sperm. You are recycled butterflies, plants, rocks, streams, firewood, wolf fur, and shark teeth, broken down to their smallest parts and rebuilt into our planet’s most complex living thing. You are not living on Earth. You are Earth. ~Aubrey Marcus
Nature is not matter only. She is also spirit. ~Carl Jung
Each of us is a puzzle, a creative spark, and a gift. No one on this earth has any more or less value than another person. We have endured hardships, achieved unimaginable heights of creativity, and inconceivable destruction. We have also shown others unquenchable love and compassion. We are all players in a great game. The creative spark that is our soul essence can not be extinguished nor does it truly suffer.
Our changing world forces us to acclimate. Things can not stay the same. Adapting is the name of the game now. Personal responsibility is coming to the fore. In these modern times, we have become used to blaming others for our suffering. This was not always so. Historically, the ancient way was \’an eye for an eye” mentality. Equal punishment for wrongs done. We each dealt with another person to settle our differences. We were on equal footing with each other. An individual could therefore extend compassion and forgiveness if they chose.
With the advent of legal entities such as Limited Liability Companies (LLC) and Corporations we abdicated our chance for compassion. Personal injury lawsuits were uncommon prior to televised advertising of lawyers specializing in that field in the late 1970\’s. When corporations were more widely used as business models, mediating problems between folks became a faceless endeavor. Blaming a company was easier to do and was profitable for the individual. These businesses had liability insurance to take care of their occasional negligence.
As the universe goes through its upgrade, the individual becomes free. Our recent involuntary confinement gave us the opportunity to know ourselves and what motivates us. Many discovered what they could do without and what they could not. Depending on a person\’s state of mind and attitude, they either suffered or thrived. I am aware of deaths that occurred and suffering children. I point out that these things happened when the world was “normal” as well, but we were happy to blame others for this plight. I do not advocate self-flagellation or being overly critical with oneself. I do see though that the gifts we bring to the table are more than enough when we responsibly use them for the welfare of those we care for either personally or in connection with other folks.
Our world is a series of contracts, many of them unconsciously enacted. We have abdicated our inner authority to others we select to act on our behalf with no real oversight by us as individuals. We are content to allow acts to be done in our name, as long as we do not feel personally responsible. Out of sight- out of mind. Becoming aware of the many ways we contract with society, religions, governments and more, we can then take back our power and decide if that is where we want to use our authority or is it better spent elsewhere. Our ethical dilemma becomes personal. We can\’t un-see what we are now aware of and are privy to. Choices can then be made, ones that we have considered and weighed against our own personal code. It can be a daunting task to “be a responsible adult” when up until now, you allowed others to dictate your life, even if you did not see it as such.
Freedom is not free but it can be freeing. When we do not have to wait on an outside authority to take action, those closest to the problem can do what needs to be done. The puzzle that must be solved is to make people aware of their own sovereignty. We are powerful as individuals. We are unstoppable as a group. We are a force to be reckoned with when we are free. The realization of our individual sovereignty is the upgrade we will experience. Not everyone will handle becoming this type of human. Some will fight tooth and nail to keep the status quo while others will simply leave the earth plane by various means. For these, dying is preferable to change. For those of us whose soul planned to live through this up-leveling of humanity, it will be rocky, but we were built for this time. Life happens- this new upgraded life- when we were unconsciously making other plans. Let\’s now be conscious and enjoy this ride.

Now we can hop down a few levels from the Galactic View of this upgrade project to examine the human collective. I mentioned in the previous post that humans are going through an upgrade in our DNA. Our consciousness is becoming more expansive as well. Let’s take a look at the ways this is playing out and what is potentially in our future.
Our world is constantly changing and evolving. As a consequence, humans must change as well or get left behind, like the Neanderthals. There are forces, in the shape of evil people, natural disasters, or personal hardships that provide the catalyst for transformation. We search to find a way out of our suffering. Some people find solace, albeit temporarily, in addictions of various kinds. Others find different routes of escapism. The groping in the darkness for peace has vexed the human psyche for millennia. The ancients discovered that reflection and study could help abate at least some of mankind\’s anguish. What else could be done to alleviate our discomfort?
Meditation has always been the go-to modality to achieve “enlightenment” and peace according to sages, shamans, wisdom-keepers, and life coaches alike. Many folks can\’t seem to make time nor have the inclination to try any sort of meditation practice, though they may believe it would be a good idea to do so. Along comes the time and lack of other distractions with the advent of a global pandemic. I don’t mean to downplay or dismiss those who died during this year-long-plus event but most of the population lived through this past year or some, even if they caught the virus.
Those that were living during this all-inclusive event found that work and social activities were severely limited or curtailed altogether. After a few rocky starts, some people suddenly found time and inclination to begin or reestablish a spiritual practice such as meditation, prayer or even just daydreaming. Mindfulness was implemented because that was all there was to do in the quiet of a nursing home where no one visited you, the solace of a flower or vegetable garden with the soil as your only companion, or being home alone due to no family coming over to cook for.
Amazing things can occur in isolation. Coal under pressure becomes a diamond. Caterpillars in cocoons transform into butterflies. Butter, sugar, flour and eggs magically emerge as a cake from the silence of the oven. Tony Stark turned into Ironman when he surfaced from his cave confinement. Humans evolve when we allow the pressure of the outside world to force us to adapt. No one says this transformation is easy. Many times it is done in fits and starts. Most would come to the realization that the journey was worth the pain after enough time to assimilate the new awareness had passed.
As a collective, we had enough folks seeking relief by going within themselves to assist the world in its desire to shift from the status quo. The direction of the earth\’s trajectory was becoming unsustainable. The divide between the haves and have-nots was too wide to bridge. A complete renewal had to be achieved. Stopping the mechanism of modern-day living was the only way. Evil somehow serves the light.
The collective has emerged from this temporary cocoon or oven, into an awake and more aware people. For the most part they are not buying what the media is selling anymore. When they tuned into their feelings and discernment these past months, they discovered that things felt “off.” Their search for what was really happening took them to places they never dreamed. The collective is being upgraded to something better able to withstand the changes that need to be made.

The journey of the universe is cyclic. Everything begins with a pinpoint-an idea or concept- then spirals up and out. On this path, periodic upgrades occur to push things along so that stagnation doesn’t set in and other opportunities can be experienced. All this happens at the micro to the macro level and has always been. Some scientists ascribe to the Big Bang Theory of the universe’s birth. This isn’t totally off the mark, but the actuality is we have had a “big bang,” if you will, multiple times in the universal journey.
There are cycles within cycles that the universe goes through, but I wish to talk about a particular period that we are finishing up at this time. Every 12,000 years or so, our solar system goes through a magnetic event1. To be sure, the entire universe goes through this as well, but that area is vast, and we do not have modern equipment that has tracked that data as efficiently as we have in our own solar neighborhood.
The Previous cycle here on Earth was the Gothenburg event so named due to discovering five closely dated and correlated ice cores in Sweden showing the temporary magnetic field change on the planet 1,3. During this and each other magnetic excursion, there were extreme volcanic activity and extinction consequences. There was also an accompanying extended cold period during a solar minimum2. The dying out of various life forms made way for new designs to begin.
Not all species die out during these cyclical events. Horseshoe crabs have been around for 445 million years, while the coelacanth (a fish) has been on Earth for 410 million years. Alligators have lasted over 84 million years in one form or another, and Basilosaurus, ancestors to modern whales, lived 35 million years ago4. Darwin’s “Survival of the fittest” means those that live long enough to reproduce, but his other observation, what we call “Adaptive Radiation,” is the survival of those that can adapt5. The species that survive each magnetic event are the ones that adapt to the changing environment and live long enough to pass on those adaptive genes.
Climate change is not new. Each of these magnetic events has smaller cycles within them. For example, our sun goes through an 11-year cycle in which there are almost no sunspots and very little activity on the sun that affects Earth. Then the sun “wakes up,” where the sunspots produce ejecta in the form of solar flares, or the disc itself produces coronal mass ejections where portions of the sun spew out into space. Solar wind from the coronal “holes” sends out cosmic particles as the sun turns. Whenever these events happen, and they face Earth, we can have many effects ranging from minimal such as aurora like the Northern Lights, to maximum damage with a micro-nova. Changing weather patterns is part of this transformation.
With all these radioactive particles blitzing us and increasingly less magnetic shielding to keep us unaffected, our DNA and everything around us begins to change. It seems ironic that all the recent superhero movies have given us clues as to what is in store for humanity. Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and became Spiderman with all of the that arachnid\’s attributes. Bruce Banner was bombarded with gamma rays and became the Hulk. Steve Rogers was exposed to increasingly energetic rays so he could transform into super-soldier Captain America. We may not be a superhero in the Hollywood fashion, but we will upgrade and adapt. Those that can’t or won’t will die out.
This is a broad overview of cycles that affect Earth and its inhabitants. The changes these cycles make are over a long period, though relatively speaking, a few “quicker” events are implemented over just a few years. We are in one of those quicker time-frames where we have a leap in the trajectory of humankind. In the following two parts of this topic, we explore the collective and the individual in light of these cycles. We also learn how to navigate and adapt to pass on the wisdom the next few generations will need until we live fully in the next era.

I hope you all enjoy a replay of our memorial service at the Denton Family Reunion. All of nature joined in the celebration: the incessant crowing of a rooster, dogs large & small, small airplanes & big trucks along with a symphony of insects lent their voices to the morning’s activities. Established in 1872, these are the sounds our loved ones listen to each day in their final rest at Old Mother Church Cemetery. I hope Heaven has a noise filter!

Reader: Avery “Denise” Gordon Crossing the Bar by Alfred Lord Tennyson
Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark;
For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the bar.

Eulogy by Rev. Dr. Catherine Denton
Our world has profoundly changed since we last met at the Denton Family Reunion two years ago. Our country has seen many losses of life for numerous reasons. Our individual lives have gone through a massive shift. We are here today to acknowledge two of our Denton family leaders- David Morris and Dave Jr. They have made the ultimate transition.
These two souls were among those responsible for our initial gatherings here in Robbinsville, around 1999, at what we have called the Sweetwater Cousin Reunion. Because of their vision, we have become closer in spirit and not just in name. Each of us has had memorable experiences each year we come together and celebrate what it means to be a Denton- a family of immeasurable love and compassion.
David Morris Denton was born and graduated high school right here in Robbinsville, NC. He served four years in the United States Air Force as a Crew Chief on the Douglas A/B-26 and the North American F-51 Mustang. He was a well educated man receiving degrees from Cumberland College, Lenoir-Rhyne College, California State University and finally his doctorate at Western Maryland College. His awards and accolades are many ranging from distinguished ones from colleges, to humanitarian awards from Rotary Club, to a 4-H alumni award, plus many, many others. In his career with deaf education he was superintendent of the Maryland School for the Deaf as well as an international lecturer spreading his ideas and thoughts on deaf education where ever there were those receptive to his message. The world knew Dr. David Morris Denton as a great man of learning. We knew him as husband, father, grandfather, uncle and patriarch of the Sweetwater Denton Clan.
Uncle Morris opened a door to our past with his storytelling and reminisces. He gave us a glimpse of those gone before our time and a deeper look at what it means to be human. His hard-won insight into living on this earth has touched us in infinite and heartfelt ways. He was the youngest son of Gwynn and Bess Denton and though he did not see war, he was touched by its heavy hand. He had dreams of a life and career beyond Robbinsville but his heart remained tied to his old home. We are grateful he shared his love of its treasures, the bounty of its blessings, and his own sage-like wisdom.
David Denton, Jr. was born in Williamsburg, KY in 1957. He went to Frederick High School and then Western Maryland College where he earned a degree in communications. He and Shawn married in 1983 and produced three lovely children. They later divorced. David made his profession of faith at the First Baptist Church in Frederick then when he moving to Charlotte he attended the Moravian Church. David spent much of his life in Charlotte or Frederick at various jobs and businesses. Once a month he took time to visit and help with his dad while his mother took a break for respite trips to Yellowstone and Hawaii. His assistance was invaluable. David was a big Panther\’s fan and for many years he and his best friend, Clifton had season tickets. Several family members went with him over the years. His biggest thrill was going to the Seattle Seahawks game where his favorite quarterback handed him the touchdown ball. The handoff was captured on TV.
For each Denton Reunion, Cousin Dave gathered us all like a hen with its chicks. His coordinating skills made this event happen year after year. Each of us were called upon to add to the everyday details and the joy we find in each other\’s company. One of the first faces we would see was Dave\’s with his arms outstretched and a hearty welcome to all who came. Dave\’s skill and enjoyment at being MC at our Saturday evening Talent Show is etched in each mind, heart and funny-bone. He loved watching family members perform, giving out prizes provided by those attending that year. He gave us hope of a bright future and something to look forward to throughout the year. He made it possible to be family though miles apart. His most important accomplishment in cooperation with his former wife, Shawn was to give us Cailen, Hannah and Ethan. For this and more we are grateful.
As we acknowledge these two souls, let us not forget that they were human in every way. They had their flaws and struggles as each of us do. Their bodily frailties at their end were only a piece of what they suffered at times during the fullness of life. As it said in our opening verse in Ephesians- These men have put off their “old self.” They are experiencing “the new self” beyond this life. We each have our times of mental and emotional anguish and know what it feels like to wonder at our own worth and value. We may even have experienced regrets. These men were no different but now they labor no longer. We extend to them and ourselves compassion and grace. As a family, we offer them peace in their eternal rest.

Reader: Erin Connor Psalm 30:1-5
I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. 2- O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. 3- O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. 4- Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. 5- For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. KJV

Our Beloved Aunt Peggy & Cousin Mary Margaret wanted toshare some words with the family:
Peggy wrote:
Dave, Jr. was my first born and only son. He was flawed, but he loved the Denton family enough to organize the family reunion and help keep it going. He loved his nuclear family and so enjoyed being a daddy. He read to his children using voices of the characters. He appreciated Bess’s paintings enough to find as many as possible and created a website for them. His sister, Mary Margaret was precious to him. He enjoyed having her visit and took her to his beloved Panther games. He cared for his father to give me respite as a caregiver. I’ll regret the last year of his life, but love him as long as I have breath.
My husband was a spiritual man who found his passion in serving deaf people. He approached the absence of using sign language as a human rights issue. He was invited to lecture in 40 states and 7 foreign countries to spread the philosophy of Total Communication. He was a devoted husband and father who was so proud of his Denton heritage and loved telling stories about it. Half of me is gone now, but his love and that of his family sustain me. Mary and David Flood are helping me hold it together with their love and care. My friends have been faithful and nurturing. I thank each of you who are here for your show of love and family solidarity.
Mary wrote:
My brother David was an avid Emcee. Ever since I can remember, he was finding ways to entertain people. He was quick witted and had a fabulous way with words. Even as a child he had a great vocabulary and he always excelled in school. He was always in the Honor Society and I was always grounded. David was able to dodge all the teenage bullets that I caught.
My brother cherished his family, nuclear and extended. He enjoyed creating skits that we and our cousins staged for our long-suffering parents. David also wrote, cast and filmed his own action pieces. Dad got a call from an employee of Maryland School for the Deaf who had just alerted police to report snipers on the roof of one of the campus buildings. Word got out that there was no real danger, it was just Dr. Denton’s son and friends shooting a film. They were on the roof throwing rifles off onto a mattress on the ground below. One such rifles suffered a broken scope which David promptly super-glued back together. The gun never had quite the same aim. I was frequently a cast member in his productions, but was usually just a dead person in the background.
Despite typical sibling bickering David generally loved me deeply and treated me like a princess. He looked out for my well-being but never judged or tried to unduly influence me. Although he did turn me into a die-hard Panthers fan! We enjoyed many a game together.
David survived some excruciatingly hard times with strength and grace. He was a caring and complex man…often bigger than life. When he walked in a room it was immediately filled with his electric presence. He was kind, interesting and interested. I always felt his compassion and infectious calm.
He was my only brother and I miss him beyond belief. But, his sweet and mellow presence will be felt all the rest of my days.
The cliche about being a “Daddy’s Girl” is too bland to describe my relationship with my father. We inspired each other and were always comfortable in each others company. We all know of Dad’s accomplishments in his career in Deaf Education…he was world renown. We recall his storytelling ability, his amazingly strong, yet easy presence, his musical prowess and love of history, family and nature.
But I, myself to knew a deeper, softer and spiritual David Denton. He shared his highest highs and lowest lows with me. He taught me subtly and not so subtly how to be courageous and humble at the same time. I remember when my brother and I got in trouble and Mom warned us that Dad would use his belt when he got home. Upon arriving David and I would tackle him and get him so tickled and laughing that he’d soon forget all about our punishment. What a pushover!
Other indelible memories were of watching Dad fearlessly and cheerfully jumping into the ocean to play in the “Ooh Aah’s”. And the many times he would send someone or personally come rescue me when I ran out of gas somewhere on the East Coast. My favorite memories of the many evenings we spent on the yellow, Naugahyde couch in the kitchen of the MSD campus singing along with Dad and his guitar while Mom would be cooking dinner and adding her beautiful third harmony to our mellow songs.
Daddy charmed every one he met. He met me on the day I was born and I could never get enough of his sweet soul. Even during his last days as his body and mind betrayed him he continued to grin, giggle, flirt and philosophized. He often alluded to the wonder of growing into yourself as a human being. He often told me, with a cherubic look on his face, “Mary Margaret just let it happen”.
I know that Daddy touched the lives of everyone here today. I am completely grateful that he touched mine as a father, mentor and friend. He will always be with me.

Nothing can stop humanity from evolving. Oh, it may seem a bit delayed for the moment, but inevitably man\’s progress forward happens. If you look at our present trajectory, we were right on schedule for an awakening. We were becoming more unified and humane compared with past eras. We were seeing the good in each other and not always the bad. Altruism was on the rise. Doing good deeds was becoming the norm. We were getting back to a purer source-code- our god-like selves.
Since this was happening, the powers-that-were- the were part is the kicker- were getting nervous. They knew that when humanity moved forward on the evolution path, their days were done. It was a matter of self-preservation for them. What will be the Final Battle had to be initiated. It is not known if they consciously knew that this battle for their survival would ultimately be their doom. For the very thing they thought to save themselves from would become the greatest catalyst the modern world would need to jump forward into their own power- the explosion in the piston making the engine fire and produce movement forward.
Humanities icons who spread 4th and 5th density ideas of unity, sovereignty, freedom, responsibility and love were manifesting the very dream they espoused. More people were “judging not by the color of their skin” than ever before. More of humanity were choosing minimalism and experiences over consumerism and debt. For a power-base that thrives on coercion, this was a dangerous future. In their way of being, there had to be the carrot or the stick reality of life in order for them to stay in power. But this type of living is not sustainable and therefore had to go for men to evolve into the next level of their adventure here on earth.
“Useful-idiots” were deployed to fight the fight of the elite. People who sought money, fame and cultural power were used to push an agenda that kept the status-quo. The folks would Tweet, write books and songs, produce movies, be interviewed or take a knee for the good of the elite empire in exchange for being rewarded as “good and faithful servants” in the eyes of their masters. It takes a village to spread propaganda and these people were more than willing to be used.
Humanity as a whole are survivors. Through the ages, natural disasters, solar kill-shots and our own self-destructive habits, we always managed to pop back up like dandelions in the lawn. We thrive on adversity and challenge. This is a long game and we are the victors at each level. Our ascendancy into higher states of conscious living will happen. I write this piece with a 3rd density state of mind but know these things have already happened in those 4th and 5th states of being. We cannot go back, as it were, to the former ways. It is not our destiny. The game must be played out and rest assured, we always win.

Many mornings I walk a 2.4 mile loop up through my neighborhood and back. I pass houses, yards, and street-signs as I wend my way listening to birds, insects and the occasional motor vehicle. Today is Easter Morn and nature was in full throat as the temperature kept to a brisk 39°F.
I love the mornings and feel my best during those early hours when some folks are still drowsy with sleep. The past few months have been a challenge. We had a family member die, another discovered a new health issue while my husband and I were laid low with the recent virus. Creativity flew out the window. No writing, no painting, no trying new recipes…nada, zilch. It was gone along with any motivation except to put one foot in front of the other. Jon and I are back to our routine now and in much better health but stress takes its toll on a body.
This morning was different. It was as if the heavens opened up and shone down on me. I felt more alive and capable than I have in weeks. The song-bird choir and insect symphony eased my over-wrought emotions as I bounced back home in my stretchy pants and Sketchers. Christ had risen on that Eastern Morning long ago. I now felt lifted up as well. It was a New Day.
How are you dealing with life in this moment? Has it felt heavy and oppressive or just long and tedious? I chose to gift myself with feeling the stress of recent events. Examining my reactions and vowing to respond instead, in the future. Grief and sadness are meant to give you pause. Suppressing those feelings are a sure way to make them come up in ways not healthy.
I read a piece from a blogger I like. It was quite hopeful and inspiring. In essence it said to focus our energies and intentions on what we DO want and CAN control. Our fears and frustrations feed the monster at the door. May we all feel risen anew on this Easter Day. Make it a new dawning for you and your family. May you be blessed.

In Part One of Integrating Societal Duality, I introduced you to the Service-to-Others (STO) orientation of a portion of humanity. In Part Two, we will explore the Service-to-Self section of the population. Keep in mind that folks you know, yourself included, have components of each of these two ways of being. To know which camp you are genuinely a part of is in your intent and the percentage of time you live in each state. Again, I need to assert that neither camp is better or worse than the other. Both sides of this human coin are necessary for humanity to evolve from our present developmental condition.
The Service-to-Self (STS) path is one in which you spend most of your time (51%+) in a being that puts your needs, wants, and desires ahead of anyone else. Your activities reflect the attitude of “If I do this, what do I gain from it?” Your thinking revolves around how you will be affected by events and circumstances. Your goals are set and implemented without thought as to how you’re attaining them affects others. Any charitable work you do has the underlying aspect of benefiting you in some manner. Simply put, your intention with all you do, think, or say is furthering your agenda. If others gain from your plans, they are a secondary concern, which can make it easier for you to advance more work that ultimately improves your situation without the possible interference of those other beings.
No one is entirely STS in their core being. There is a spectrum of involvement and perhaps even times in our lives that we are more in line with servicing ourselves than at other moments of our existence. When we are young, it is easy to become self-absorbed. When we choose radical self-care such as going to a spiritual retreat or entering an addiction program, we are servicing ourselves for that period, even if we believe we are doing it all for the others in our life. All of us are a mixture of various attitudes and intentions in how we choose to live.
There is a small group among us that are fully invested (95%+) in the STS path. They understand, for the most part, that the human experience is a long game. They serve a higher cause and plan their agenda accordingly. The bit of themselves that exhibit Service-to-Others characteristics are usually reserved for family. They instruct these members in STS ways so that they can further the long-range plans of the whole. Since their planning involves generations of family and close contacts, these folks are usually relatively well-off. The ultimate goal is to gain. At first, it is the acquisition of material goods, then they progress to gaining knowledge, which can include self-mastery. When all that is accomplished, the supreme reason for living will be power. With power, you can achieve that much more without all the work. The menial tasks will be done by others lower in status that desire to have what you have and do whatever it takes to get it.
Those people who follow the STS path but are lower in status represent a fair amount of folks. They have a better mixture of STS to STO but still strive and intend most of their activities to benefit themselves. There is nothing wrong with seeking a better circumstance with financial security. The difficulty is what is required of you to obtain that life when your motivation is self-focused. Your sense of morality and internal compass can be easily compromised. The higher up the ladder you climb, the more of the STO portion of your being has to fall away. You become immune to the plight of those in your sphere except as an obstacle to getting around. You begin to use people to further your plans without seeing them as individuals. Some of what is expected of you may be illegal, unethical, and even immoral. Those who still exhibit compassion and empathy need not apply.
After reading this far, you may be wondering why this type of person is allowed to live the way they do. The answer I find is three-fold:
We live in a dualistic universe with Free-Will and therefore we need two sides of everything to have a choice.
Generations of planning have given them the power to perpetuate themselves and those who wish to be like them to continue as they are.
The existence of the two paths, Service-to-Others and Service-to-Self, offers us all a unique opportunity for soul growth.
Each camp pushes and prods the other so that we all evolve. When the STS people succeed in tamping down the STO folks’ desires, the STS individuals grow in strength with lower status people moving up the ladder. When the STO folks realize they have more power than they were led to believe and push forward in accomplishments, they get closer to integrating and accepting that having power and self-determination is not bad.
At this point, a spoiler-alert may be in order. We live at present in a 3D world which is materialistic in nature. We are moving as a collective into a 4/5D earth. This is due to the progress we have made in our individual and collective souls’ growth. The higher we evolve in our consciousness, the more of the Service-to-Self path will fall away. The energy it takes to suppress, restrict, and control other beings is not sustainable in these higher realms. There will be other opportunities to grow and gain wisdom in the higher states of consciousness that some are now beginning to see and experience.
In our 3D world, we are given a choice in how we want to live our lives. Some proclivities we are born with while other traits are learned in this life. How we grow is not as important as that we do. Moving our collective consciousness en masse is what we are made for, and everyone has their job. It takes each person doing/being what their soul mission requires to integrate societal duality. We have been moving in this direction for quite some time now and are on schedule to accomplish this goal. Moving nearly eight billion 3D individuals to a higher state of consciousness is not easy, nor is it pretty. In fact, at times, like right now, it can be very chaotic. We are on the cusp of the next level in humanity’s mission. No one gets left behind, for we all play the roles we agreed to do to further the whole. Humanity’s long game is to evolve. We are doing that step-by-step, day-by-day. Congratulate yourself on a job well-done because giving up is not an option.

She got out of her nearly paid-off Mercedes as she closed the garage door, walked up the steps and opened the kitchen door. She placed her leather handbag on the table and sifted through the mail her husband had laid there when he came home for lunch. A blue envelope caught her eye and she noticed her company’s name at the top. “Hmmm. Wonder what they are sending out. Probably my W-2,” she thought then immediately began pondering tax documents that have yet to come in.
The woman looked up from the mail, saw her reflection in the tall window that overlooked the back yard and noticed that her scarf had come untied. She tied it back in its usual neat off center knot. In the window she could see her classically styled size 12 teal pantsuit looked relatively fresh even after a long day at her office in town. Her warm brown hair had a sexy mussed-up look that tended to happen when she attended a lot of meetings of Fridays. Good thing her husband liked that look, ’cause that was what he was getting today. She smiled to herself as she kicked off her shoes and plopped onto the couch.
She laid aside the envelopes she knew had bills and advertisements in them. She held the blue envelope in her hand, recognized her name and address through the little cellophane window then stopped before she tore open the seal. There was part of the letter showing below her address. She tapped the top edge on the side table to see if the contents would shift enough to see a bit more. Success! She held it under the lamp and read the portion of a sentence that now showed clearly.
…regrets to inform you
Those were the words she read out loud but they screamed in her mind. What the hell! What do they regret? Am I being fired? Why am I being fired? She dropped the envelope beside her and thought about her job for a moment. After 8 yrs, she was darn good at her job! Her department had made the company a lot of money this past year. How dare they think about firing her! She picked up the envelope again and shook it some more to see if more words showed through the little window. Nothing but those first hateful words were view-able.
Maybe she wasn’t being fired. Yeah, that felt better. Maybe there is a layoff. Oh, no! I wonder if Becky is on the list. She just got back from maternity leave. What will she do in a lay-off? She and her husband just moved into their new home last year. This could ruin them. It can’t be a lay-off. Surely the company wouldn’t be so cruel. What am I saying, of course, they could, they are looking to make a profit, not take care of the world. I thought this company was different, that they valued their employees. That was why I decided to work for them. How could I be so wrong?
I know what it is. It’s a reprimand. I knew that little argument with Bill would come back to bite me! He had a point with the logistics of that project but his solution was gonna cost much more than Casey’s idea. I had to make a decision that was viable and cost effective. Why did he have to slam his fist on the table and yell at Casey? I had to ask him to leave until he got hold of himself, didn’t I? He swore he’d get even. Now it’s happened. I wonder if this will affect my future project managing. She sighed and laid her head against the back of the couch.
“Hey, Sweetie,” her husband called from the back door. “How’s my favorite girl? I don’t know about you but I need a whiskey after the day I’ve had. Wanna glass of wine?” He saw her on the couch with her eyes closed. He fixed the drinks and came over to sit with her, handing her the glass.
She opened her eyes as he sat down, took the glass of wine and drank a long gulp before speaking. “How would you feel about moving to a cheaper place, maybe the country somewhere?”
He saw the blue envelope in her hand. “What does your letter say?”
“I don’t know. I haven’t opened it yet.”
“Why not? Could be good news” He took a sip of his whiskey and kicked off his shoes. He mimicked her pose and sat with his head back against the couch.
She looked at the envelope, took another swig of wine then set the glass down on the table. She turned the envelope over and tore open the seal. Taking out the letter she took a deep fortifying breath.
She scanned the greeting and began reading the letter to herself.

She couldn’t believe what she just read. He husband sipped his whiskey and quietly allowed her to read the letter. She turned to him and sat there for a moment. He felt her stare and sat up looking back at her. “Well? Was it good news?” He was met with silence so he asked as he leaned back on the couch and closed his eyes again, “What would you like to do for dinner?”
She smiled and shook her head at all the dire thoughts she had before she opened that little blue envelope. Her motto had always been- Prepare for the worst but Hope for the best. She must have been more tired than she realized. She had forgotten the Hope part of the saying for a brief time.
“How do you feel about seafood?” she mused out loud.
“Sounds good. Where are you thinking?” he answered without moving from his comfortable position.

Humans are made to create. It is in our blood, our psyche, our very soul. Our imagination is infinite. It can not be contained; it always finds a way to express itself. Humanity would not thrive without this ability. Each one of us has a spark inside that is unique, memorable and oh so needed for this time. You were built to add to the world your individual creations so that we may all move forward in consciousness.
As humans, we create tools, relationships, agreements, art, shelter, food, ideas, communication, language, life, and so much more. Our capacity for innovation knows no bounds. We draw on the collective consciousness of thousands of years of humanity, perhaps more. We are always creating something.
We are creator beings with individual perspectives, tastes, and opinions. Humanity learns through contrast and comparison. We need something to dislike so that we may know what we do like. We need down compared to up, good in contrast to bad, fear in contrast to safe. This is why food buffets are so popular! Our world is a landscape of variety to compare and distinguish one aspect of something from another.
There are those in humanity who desire control and steer the rest in the direction of their choosing. The would-be controllers attempt to limit those who freely create. They restrain or get others to do it for them. They endeavor to silence, squelch, and censor the contrast to the direction they put forth. Sanitizing, suppressing, or deleting creations from the past may be attempted. They do not realize that history always repeats itself. The present can not be held back. Nature is ever in motion.
To limit or censor another is to put the same constraints on the self. If I say you can not do thus, I am limiting my options as well. Without your input of variation, I can not know what the opposite of that is. This, therefore, limits my choices. If a book or movie is edited or deleted altogether, someone is bound to make another so that the balance of contrast continues forth. Ideas and concepts get recycled and reused. We need them in our lives so that we can draw from their wisdom- the good and the bad. That which serves us helps us feel accomplished while that which serves no one is used as a catalyst to move us forward and look for more of that which provides for the greater good.
Recent attempts at censoring individual voices, especially those that express conservative or alternative to the mainstream-media views, are causing a widening rift in humanity. It may come as a surprise to some, but not all people live in the same reality. There is a consensus in some aspects while not in others, like a VEN diagram with overlapping circles. We may agree we live in the same country, but our lives reflect our attitudes and expectations. For all of us to have the same experiences is to limit our choices. It suppresses our natural creativity. Eventually, it is expressed but in a destructive way that hurts rather than to heal.
In past years, my husband and I would occasionally have dinner out with my parents. Health issues caused them to lose some of their natural optimism and joy while Jon and I were in good health and doing well in our lives. We were all in the same restaurant at the same table with the same server. Our experiences were very different, no matter when we went out or where we ate our meal. Somehow my parents’ meals had something not quite right, or their check would be added wrong. Our meals were usually correct, with no problems. I watched this phenomenon happen over and over.
I observed how my parents acted in public, what they talked about. In contrast to their example, I decided to act and speak differently. As a consequence, my reality became different from the one they experienced. Without this illustration, I would not have known anything else to do. I did not suppress my creative nature and did not limit myself to their experience. Through contrast, I found a way that worked for me, and it gave me an outcome more in-line with how I wanted my life to be.
Observe the difference in visual art between Michelangelo versus Jackson Pollock. How can we dismiss either artist? We may each have our preferences, but to deny another of their choice is limiting us as well. As we create outwardly, our inner landscape changes and recreates itself in tandem. Our tastes in art and other life experiences morph and grow as we walk through our lives. My daughter only ate chicken nuggets as a child. Now, as a 27-year old, she tries new foods all the time. Her limited diet grew as she did in age and maturity.
How are you welcoming contrast & diversity of thought into your life experience? Are you squelching your creativity or the creative expressions of others? Are you casting an unfavorable judgment on someone else’s choices? In the game of Duality Integration- which we are all playing- we need the various shades of opinions and options to make the tapestry of our collective lives rich, full, and meaningful. Invite creative variety. You will be better served for it.
